Guinean press unions and professional associations are laying down their tools as they declare today a “no-press-day”.
The initiative is a collective protest against what they say is deliberate interference with the signals of specific media outlets critical of the transitional authorities.
Additionally, the press organizations are condemning the removal of select private television channels from the Canal Plus network, a move carried out on the orders of the High Authority for Communication in the country.
