In Guinea, political parties are strongly opposing remarks made on Wednesday by government spokesperson Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, who suggested that not all elections will be held this year. Politicians are calling this a sign of disorder at the highest levels of the state and are urging General Mamadi Doumbouya to take responsibility by providing a clear and precise electoral calendar.
Following the government’s press conference, reactions from the political class have intensified. Dr. Ibrahima Sory Diallo, leader of the ADC-BOC party, accused the government of lacking the political will to organize elections.
A similar stance has been taken by the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), led by Cellou Dalein Diallo. Samuel Kourouma, a member of the opposition party, also criticized the government’s stance.
Several political groups are now threatening to take action if all elections are not held before the end of the year, as previously promised by General Doumbouya.
