In Guinea Bissau, the opposition political parties and several political players are divided on the new legislative election date announced by President Umaro Sissoko Embalo.
President Embalo had days ago declared November 24 as the date for the parliamentary elections after dissolving the National Assembly twice in 18 months.
The previous assembly elected in December last year and controlled by the opposition was dissolved when the president alleged a coup.
The majority coalition, which claimed victory in the June 2023 elections, opposed the dissolution and called for new elections.
