In Guinea, opposition leader Cellou Dalein Diallo has called on supporters of his Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG) party to boycott the constitutional referendum scheduled for September 21, 2025.
Diallo, a former prime minister, argues that the draft constitution does not reflect the aspirations of the Guinean people. Instead, he contends, it is designed to cement the military’s grip on power.
The UFDG’s stance adds fresh tension to Guinea’s political climate, as debates over the referendum continue to divide opinion across the country.
