The Liberal Bloc (BL) in Guinea has raised alarm over what it describes as the kidnapping of one of its key campaign officials ahead of the December 28 presidential election. According to the party, Massa Douago Guilavogui, its deputy campaign director, was abducted overnight between December 2 and 3 in the Matoto district of Conakry.

Party leader Oumar Sanoh, reading an official statement, condemned the incident as a “heinous act” intended to intimidate and destabilize the BL during a critical moment in the electoral process. The party says the timing of the incident heightens concerns about political tensions and the safety of campaign staff.

The BL has demanded an immediate and thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Guilavogui’s disappearance. It also urged authorities to ensure the protection of all political actors as the election approaches.

Members of the opposition party fear the abduction could signal a growing climate of intimidation that threatens the credibility of the upcoming vote. They are calling on national and international observers to pay close attention to developments in the days ahead.
