A new development has emerged in Guinea’s second phase of the trial linked to the September 28, 2009 stadium massacre.
On Monday, the Dixinn Criminal Court overturned the committal orders against Colonels Jean-Louis Kpoghomou, Georges Olemou, and Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Touaro, ordering their immediate release.
Defense lawyers welcomed the ruling, describing it as a victory for the law and due process.
However, counsel for the civil parties criticized the decision as a setback for victims and an obstacle to the pursuit of truth. Sankulleh Janko reports.
