Political campaigning is officially underway in Guinea as the country heads toward its crucial presidential election on December 28, 2025. All nine candidates, including incumbent military leader General Mamadi Doumbouya, have launched their nationwide tours to court voters.
General Doumbouya is leaning heavily on his record in power, highlighting security reforms, institutional restructuring, and promises of stability. His supporters argue that continuity is key to safeguarding the progress made since the transition began.
Opposition candidates, however, are using the campaign period to present alternative visions. Their messages focus on restoring civilian governance, improving economic conditions, and strengthening democratic institutions—critical concerns for many Guineans eager for change.
As rallies intensify across the country, citizens are watching closely to determine which candidate offers the most credible path forward. The next few weeks will be decisive in shaping Guinea’s political direction heading into 2026.
