Guinea Bissau’s former President of the National People’s Assembly, Domingos Simões Pereira has announced his return to Bissau today, September 14, 2024.

His return to the country was contained in a letter addressed to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Simeos Pereira is making a comeback in Bissau’s political scene after being exiled following the dissolution of the Assembly in December 2023 by President Umaro Sissoco Embalo.

Embalo had reported an attempted coup.
