In Guinea, the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) has intensified its campaign against the ruling military junta. The citizens’ movement has sent a letter to World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, demanding the immediate suspension of all financial assistance to the authorities.

The FNDC accuses the junta of committing grave human rights violations, including the forced disappearances of prominent figures such as activist Oumar Sylla, also known as Foniké Mengué, fellow activist Mamadou Billo Bah, and investigative journalist Habib Marouane Camara.

According to the group, continuing to fund the current leadership would make the international institution complicit in abuses against citizens. They are urging the World Bank to leverage its influence to push for respect for human rights and the restoration of democratic governance.
