The world celebrated Press Freedom Day on Friday, May 3, 2024, denouncing threats and intimidation against journalists.
On the sideline of the celebration, Reporters sans Frontières (RSF) issued its 2023 index on Press Freedom in Africa.
The index contains five indicators namely Political, Security, Economic, Legal, and Pluralism.
RSF also known as Reporters Without Borders said these indicators were used to establish the condition of journalists, including attacks on the press, arrests of media practitioners, and media censorship.
Sadibou Marong is the RSF Director for the West Africa Bureau.
He spoke in an exclusive interview with WADR regarding the latest ratings.
