Civil Society Organisations CSOs in West Africa are currently meeting in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to explore the decline in democracy and civic space across the region
The increasing coups and authoritarian regimes in the region is key among the discussions.
The workshop organised by West African Civil Society Institute WACSI under Civic Space Resources Hub aims to deepen understanding of the shrinking civic space in West Africa, strengthen collaboration between social movements and civil society organizations, and develop actionable strategies to protect civic freedoms, restore democratic values, build resilience and ensure sustainable advocacy efforts in the face of growing restrictions and democratic backsliding.
