In this edition of the guest interview, we conclude our conversation with Etornam Sey, Founder of Inspire Today, an NGO that helps young menstruating girls in public schools with sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene items.
In this part, Etornam lamented the severe impact of taxes on sanitary towels which prevented access and caused some girls to skip school with others also exchanging sex for sanitary towels, leading to many cases of unwanted pregnancies.
Etornam wants the Ghanaian government to scrap taxes on imported sanitary towels like it has done for locally produced ones as announced during last year’s budget presentation
