GUEST INTERVIEW – CSOs, Women’s Rights Advocates call for Support of FGM Law in The Gambia
Our discussion centres around the controversial bill seeking to repeal the law criminalizing the act of Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, in the Gambia.
After a fierce debate on Monday 18th March by Lawmakers in The Gambian National Assembly on the bill, it was sent to the ABC Committee.
This decision follows the suspension of the debate for further examination.
Civil society and women’s rights activists like Fatima Jarju, programme associate for Think Young Women (TYW) in the Gambia, have expressed concerns about the move to repeal the law.
