Today, July 31, marks a significant milestone in the campaign for women’s activism in Africa: Pan-African Women’s Day.
This day is celebrated annually to commemorate the first Pan-African Women’s Conference, held in Dar es Salaam in 1962.
Unfortunately, it is not as widely recognized as other events dedicated to women’s empowerment.
In an interview with WADR, feminist, activist, and media practitioner Coumba Bâ advocates for a renewed and invigorated approach to commemorating this day, which she describes as Africa’s equivalent of International Women’s Day.
