In Ghana, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has ruled that the controversial Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill must be reintroduced in the current Parliament.
According to the Speaker, the bill expired with the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, contrary to claims by the Majority Leader that it had already been passed. Bagbin clarified that all pending business before the previous Parliament lapsed when it was dissolved.
He emphasized that the 9th Parliament must now begin the legislative process afresh to reconsider the bill.
