Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy has said that the government will meet all contractual agreements with neighbouring countries to which Ghana exports power to.
It comes on the back of a recent directive by President Akufo-Addo to the VRA to curtail the export of electricity to other countries in response to the ongoing intermittent power outages, in the country.
Ghana exports power to neigbouring countries such as Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso.
Speaking to the media after a closed-door meeting with the stakeholders in the power sector, the chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and energy Samuel Atta Akyea, argued government cannot afford a complete ceasure of power export as that would amount to a breach of contract.
