Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has justified an over 400% increment in the price for passport acquisition.

The ministry argues that the previous rate at which Ghanaians were acquiring passports was not realistic and thus putting undue pressure on the government which to date, subsidizes the cost of production.

The minority in parliament has however criticized the move describing it as ill-timed, suggesting a rather gradual increment to an instant adjustment.

From Accra, WADR’s Naa Dedei Tettey completes the story.
