Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has stepped up Africa’s demand for permanent representation on the United Nations Security Council, calling the current structure outdated and unjust.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly on Thursday, he said the post–World War II order unfairly concentrates global power in the hands of five nations.
President Mahama stressed that urgent reforms are needed to give Africa and other underrepresented regions a stronger voice in global decision-making.
His remarks add momentum to Africa’s longstanding push for a fairer role in shaping international security and governance.
