The Ghana Statistical Service revealed that the country’s economy grew by 4.7% between 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.

In the first three months of 2024, the economy was valued at 266.7 billion Cedis, up from 212.1 billion cedis in the same period of 2023.

The main drivers of this growth were Mining and Quarrying, Information and Communication, Construction (8.2%), and Accommodation and Food Service Activities.

The Services sector remained the largest sector of the Ghanaian economy in Q1 2024, accounting for 45.6% of GDP at basic prices.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, the Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobena Anim, also disclosed that despite the general growth of the economy, the non-oil driven sector has seen a slowdown.
