Ghana’s Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has ordered illegal miners to leave forests and water bodies within two weeks.

He warns that failure to comply will lead to legal action as the government intensifies efforts to protect natural resources.

The move aligns with President John Mahama’s push for responsible mining. Illegal mining, or “galamsey,” has caused severe environmental damage and safety hazards.
