The Affirmative Action Coalition, established to advocate for the enactment and passage of the Affirmative Action Bill (AAB), has welcomed the bill’s recent passage.
This legislation, which had been pending for over a decade, aims to promote and progressively increase women’s active participation in public life, with a target of achieving at least 30% female representation by 2030, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In an interview with WADR, Lawyer Sheila Minkah-Premo, the Convener for the Affirmative Action Coalition, expressed confidence that President Nana Akufo-Addo will support the bill. She also addressed and dispelled criticisms from the MP for Tamale South, who described the legislation as “bad laws”
