Reactions have been mixed in Ghana following the recently announced U.S. visa restrictions targeting individuals accused of undermining democracy ahead of the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the U.S. statement, this policy aims to safeguard Ghana’s democratic institutions and ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.
While some have welcomed the move, others, including international relations expert Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso, have criticized it, describing it as interference in the country’s democratic processes.
