In Ghana, the government is calling on the Commonwealth of Nations to strongly condemn attacks targeting United Nations peacekeepers.
The appeal follows a recent incident in Lebanon in which Ghanaian troops were injured during hostilities in the region.
Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa warned that such assaults threaten the foundations of global peace and international security.
Authorities say stronger international action is needed to ensure the safety of peacekeeping forces deployed in conflict zones.
