The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has sounded the alarm on a growing trend of political elite dominance weakening democratic institutions across Africa.

In its maiden Democracy Capture Report, CDD-Ghana reveals how political and economic elites are manipulating state agencies to serve personal and partisan interests. This quiet takeover, the report says, is happening under the guise of democratic governance.

The think tank warns that such elite control risks hollowing out institutions meant to protect accountability, transparency, and citizen welfare.
