Ghana’s President Mahama has sworn Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie into office as the country’s new Chief Justice. His appointment follows last week’s parliamentary approval and comes after the recent removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
The ceremony marks an important moment for the judiciary, restoring leadership at a time when public confidence and institutional stability are key national concerns. Officials say the transition is expected to strengthen judicial oversight and continuity.
In his remarks, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie pledged to uphold the rule of law, promote fairness, and ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied. He also emphasized the need for a judiciary that serves all citizens with integrity.
The new Chief Justice is expected to lead ongoing reforms aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and access to justice across the court system.
