In Ghana, the academic futures of 460,611 students hang in the balance due to the delayed release of the 2024 WASSCE results.
The delay stems from the government’s GHS 118 million ($7,996,444) debt owed to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). WAEC has indicated that it has exhausted its financial resources and cannot process the results without the overdue payment.
Students, many of whom need their results to meet university application deadlines, are growing increasingly anxious. Calls for the government to settle the debt have so far gone unanswered, leaving their academic journeys in jeopardy.
