Ghana’s Parliament has passed the Security and Intelligence Agencies Bill, 2025, introducing sweeping reforms to the country’s security architecture.
The reforms include abolishing the Ministry of National Security and renaming the National Investigations Bureau to the Bureau of National Intelligence.
Government says the change will help eliminate longstanding public confusion with the National Investment Bank, which shares the same acronym.
The move marks a significant shift in Ghana’s approach to coordinating its intelligence and security agencies.
