The Ghanaian government has initiated extradition proceedings against a foreign national accused of secretly recording and distributing intimate videos of Ghanaian women without consent. Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation Samuel Nartey George confirmed authorities will pursue the suspect through diplomatic and legal channels to ensure prosecution under Ghana’s Cybersecurity laws.
Minister George has directed his ministry to formally engage the Russian Ambassador to secure cooperation from Russian authorities. The case involves a foreign national who allegedly lured Ghanaian women, recorded intimate encounters covertly, and published the videos online reportedly for financial gain.
The Minister emphasized that the government’s action centers on criminal conduct rather than moral judgment about adults’ private choices. Unauthorized recording and distribution of intimate content constitutes a serious violation of Ghana’s cybersecurity legislation and individual privacy rights.
The extradition effort demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to holding perpetrators accountable regardless of nationality. Authorities aim to ensure the suspect faces justice in Ghana where the crimes against Ghanaian citizens were committed.
