Hundreds of protesters gathered at Accra’s Revolution Square on Sunday evening for a vigil against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

The event, organised by the FixTheCountry Movement, highlighted the devastating impact of galamsey on rivers, forests, and livelihoods across the country.

Monday’s planned march will intensify calls for government to take urgent and decisive steps to protect Ghana’s environment from further destruction.
