Ghana’s Parliament has approved major budget allocation estimates for several ministries and constitutional bodies, even as the legislative chamber descended into chaos. The approval forms part of the ongoing consideration of the 2026 Budget.

The disorder erupted after a High Court ruling declared the Kpandai seat vacant. Parliament subsequently notified the Electoral Commission to take action, a move that immediately drew sharp resistance from the Minority caucus.

Minority lawmakers argued that the decision was unlawful and premature, disrupting proceedings with chants and heated exchanges. The tense atmosphere nearly escalated into physical confrontation.

Despite the turbulence, the Majority pushed through the approval of the key budget estimates. The development sets the stage for continued debate over constitutional interpretation and political accountability in the coming days.
