In Ghana, the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary is gathering momentum as five aspirants officially file nominations ahead of the January 2026 polls.
Leading the pack are former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, both seen as front-runners in the keenly contested race.
They face competition from Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, all seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
Party officials say the nomination process signals the start of a spirited campaign season ahead of the primaries.
