Tensions are easing between Ghana and Nigeria following anti-Nigerian protests in Accra and Kumasi that sparked fear among the Nigerian diaspora. Protesters accused Nigerian nationals of involvement in crime, fueling online outrage and calls for expulsion.

In response, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, flew to Accra to engage in diplomatic talks. Her swift intervention, backed by the Nigerian Senate and diaspora groups, helped calm the situation.

During a closed-door meeting, Ghana’s Foreign Minister Samuel Ablakwa emphasized the countries’ historic ties and the need for continued collaboration.

With over a million Nigerians living in Ghana, both nations have agreed to maintain dialogue, prevent future unrest, and reinforce regional unity.
