Ghana is mourning the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the country’s longest-serving First Lady, who died at age 76 on October 23, 2025, at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
The widow of former President Jerry John Rawlings, she was widely celebrated for her advocacy for women’s rights, political empowerment, and social development.
Throughout her public life, Nana Konadu championed gender equality through initiatives like the 31st December Women’s Movement, which empowered thousands of women across Ghana.
Tributes have poured in from political leaders, civil society groups, and citizens who hailed her as a trailblazer for women in leadership and a pillar of Ghana’s democratic journey.
