The Ministry of Interior of Ghana has lifted the curfew on two towns in the Northern Region – Saboba and Bimbilla.
Contained in a statement from the ministry, it was that the decision to lift the curfew was borne out of the genuine desire of the chiefs and people of the area to sustain peace in the area as well as the improvement in the security situation in the area.
The statement added, “The Minister of Interior, on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council, has lifted the curfews on Saboba and Bimbilla both in the Northern Region with immediate effect,”.
The statement concluded that the government will continue to work with the leaders of the communities to bring lasting peace to the areas.
The two communities in the north of Ghana have had longstanding conflict over disputed ownership of lands.
