Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has released timelines for two parliamentary by-elections following the passing of sitting Members of Parliament in the Tamale Central and Akwatia constituencies.
The by-election for Tamale Central is scheduled for September 30, while ballot printing for the Akwatia by-election is set to begin on Wednesday. Both elections are expected to be closely watched as they will determine who fills the vacant seats in Parliament.
The EC emphasized its commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process. It noted that preparations are underway to guarantee smooth conduct of the polls in line with electoral laws.
These by-elections hold political significance as they could influence the balance of representation in Parliament. Parties are expected to field strong candidates in both constituencies to secure voter confidence.
