Ghana’s Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has withdrawn treason felony charges against activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, ending a two-year legal battle.
A Nolle Prosequi was filed on March 12, 2025, officially discontinuing the case. Barker-Vormawor, who faced trial over alleged coup-related comments, claims the ordeal disrupted his doctoral studies abroad.
His legal team welcomes the decision, but activists say the case highlights concerns over free speech and political dissent in Ghana.
