In Ghana, President John Mahama has ordered a major expansion of recruitment into the security services.
The directive increases enlistment across various agencies from 20,000 to 40,000 over the next four years.
The decision follows strong interest in the exercise, with over 500,000 applications received despite only 5,000 slots initially available this year due to fiscal constraints.
However, the Minority in Parliament argues that increasing recruitment numbers alone does not address broader concerns about the process.
