Ghana has deported three Israeli nationals in a reciprocal move after what it describes as the unfair treatment and subsequent deportation of three Ghanaian travelers from Israel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision followed reports that the Ghanaians were subjected to unjustified and unacceptable treatment upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport.
According to the ministry, the action was taken to signal Ghana’s disapproval of the incident and to ensure that its citizens are treated with dignity when traveling abroad. Officials emphasized that the measure was not aimed at escalating tensions but at defending the rights of Ghanaian travelers.
Following the development, representatives from both countries met to discuss the matter and expressed a shared commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully. Diplomatic channels have since been activated to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities in Accra say they expect continued cooperation between Ghana and Israel, noting that strong bilateral ties remain essential despite the temporary setback.
