Ghana’s National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has launched a major operation in Aboso, Western Region, dismantling a notorious galamsey hub known as “Gangway.”
The intelligence-led swoop, carried out on Sunday, October 5, forms part of renewed national efforts to curb illegal mining and restore environmental integrity in affected communities.
According to officials, several suspects were arrested, and mining equipment was seized during the raid. The operation highlights the government’s increasing resolve to enforce mining regulations and protect Ghana’s natural resources from further degradation.
Authorities say similar exercises will continue in other hotspot areas as part of an ongoing nationwide anti-galamsey campaign.
