Former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has announced plans to return to the country next month, nearly nine years after going into exile.

The announcement was made through a WhatsApp call broadcast to a jubilant crowd gathered in his hometown of Kanilai.

In a viral video, thousands of supporters, both young and old, were seen assembled at the town square to listen to Jammeh’s address, sparking widespread discussion about the implications of his planned return.
