Hundreds of young protesters under the banner of Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) are marching today in Banjul, demanding swift action on major corruption cases involving public officials.
The movement, which previously protested the controversial sale of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets, is urging the government to speed up investigations and prosecutions tied to multi-million-dollar scandals.
Despite an ongoing parliamentary probe, GALA says the pace of accountability is too slow and that corruption continues to undermine public trust and development.
GALA’s deputy spokesperson, Babacar Sy, told WADR that the group will keep mounting pressure until justice is served and transparency restored in public governance.
