In The Gambia, the youth-led movement Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) is moving forward with a planned peaceful protest today despite a police ban.
The protest aims to demand government transparency over the controversial sale of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets, following an investigative report alleging corruption and abuse of office.
Speaking at a press conference in Banjul, GALA spokesperson Omar Saibou said the group would not back down until the government provides clear information on how Jammeh’s properties were managed.
