The Gambia’s President Adama Barrow says his government would continue to enforce a ban on female genital mutilation and cutting pending a possible parliamentary vote to lift the ban.

Parliament approved a bill in March to repeal 2015 legislation banning such mutilations in the predominantly Muslim West African country.
