GAMBIA: UNICEF Official urges stronger protection of children’s rights

The United Nations Children and Education Fund, UNICEF Country Representative in The Gambia, Nafisa Binte Shafique has called for the protection and safeguarding of children’s rights in the country.

She made the call in commemoration of the International Children’s Day 2024.  

World Children’s Day, observed annually on November 20, is a global celebration dedicated to the welfare, rights, and future of children. 

In an exclusive interview with WADR, Ms. Shafique emphasized the importance of listening to children, nothing that they are aware of their needs and rights.

She urged authorities, duty bearers, and parents to engage with children and take their voices into account in decision-making processes.
