In The Gambia, a new survey by the civil society group Gambia Participates has revealed strong public concerns about corruption.
The report shows that 67% of respondents believe corruption levels are very high, with another 23% saying they are high. By contrast, only a small fraction of respondents described corruption as moderate or low.
Worryingly, 81% of Gambians surveyed believe corruption has worsened over the past year, reflecting a growing sense that governance and accountability are moving in the wrong direction.
Marr Nyang, Executive Director of Gambia Participates, said the findings underscore the urgent need for stronger reforms and greater transparency in public life.
