Gambian President Adama Barrow has received the National Human Rights Commission’s 2025 annual report, which highlights measurable improvements in the country’s human rights environment.
The report notes progress in upgrading detention cells and prison facilities, aimed at improving conditions for inmates and strengthening respect for human dignity within the justice system.
It also underscores expanded human rights education initiatives, particularly those supporting the work of the Truth, Reconciliation, and Reparations Commission (TRRC) and related institutions.
According to the NHRC, continued efforts to reinforce the rule of law and enhance international cooperation remain central to sustaining these gains.
