The Gambia’s National Assembly has conducted the first reading of the Local Government Amendment Bill, 2024.

The bill seeks to grant voting rights to nominated councilors at the local government level.

Lawmakers also reviewed the Waste Management Bill, which aims to improve waste regulation and promote reuse.

Both bills will undergo further scrutiny before potential approval.
