The trial of Ousmane Sonko, a former minister from Yaya Jammeh’s administration, is ongoing in the Swiss Federal Criminal Court.
Commencing on Monday, the proceedings saw the families of the complainants and their legal representatives presenting their cases.
Sonko, the former Gambian Interior Minister, faces charges related to endorsing, partaking in, and neglecting to prevent violent acts such as attacks, rapes, abductions, and torture carried out by Gambian security forces against regime opponents.
In response, Sonko’s defense team has petitioned the Court to dismiss the charges against their client.
