The Gambia has opened a high-level dialogue with UNICEF and the Government of Japan to strengthen child protection and development across the country. The initiative aims to bring together key actors to explore new strategies for improving the well-being of children nationwide.
The two-day meeting focuses on the role of public–private partnerships in bridging long-standing gaps in health, education, and child-protection services. Organizers believe that stronger collaboration with the private sector could unlock innovative solutions and sustainable funding for child-focused programs.
Government officials, business leaders, and development partners are taking part in the discussions. Their goal is to identify practical ways the private sector can contribute to national child development priorities.
According to the organizers, the dialogue represents a critical step toward building a more coordinated and impactful child-protection system. They underscore the need for shared responsibility and long-term commitment to improving outcomes for every child in The Gambia.
