The Gambia has strengthened its border security architecture with the graduation of one hundred officers into a newly established Border Patrol Unit. The development marks a significant step in efforts to enhance surveillance and control along the country’s borders.

The passing-out ceremony took place at the Fajara Barracks Parade Ground, signaling the official deployment of the officers into active service. Authorities say the new unit is expected to improve border management and address emerging security concerns.

The move comes amid reports of a surge in migration-related activity, prompting renewed focus on border monitoring and enforcement. Officials maintain that the initiative is part of broader efforts to safeguard national security while responding to evolving migration trends.
